What We’re All About

When looking to have a film or video made, you generally have two choices. You can cheap out and hire a freelance videographer for a couple hundred bucks, who might get you usable footage, but it won't be anywhere near the quality achieved by high end production companies. But to get the quality of the big guys, you'll end up spending upwards of ten, twenty, or even fifty thousand dollars or more for a simple thirty second commercial.

Large production companies are using outdated and bloated workflows, wasting budget at every turn. The truth of the matter is that the resources needed to create visually stunning content aren't exclusive to massive productions anymore.

At Making Shapes, we aim to bridge the gap between quality and affordability. We will bring you the caliber of high end productions, but with a much more efficient and modern system, assuring that each dollar you spend is obtaining its maximum value. We have the flexibility and resources to produce anything from a quick social media ad to a full-fledged feature film.

All of this isn't to say that quality comes without price. The equipment, creativity, and man-hours needed aren't exactly cheap, but by adapting to a more modern approach allows each dollar in the budget to go farther than ever before. We pride ourselves on detailing to our clients exactly where their money is going and why that's necessary for the production.

Rather than having a large staff, our team consists of just two of us, who act as producers and directors for our company. John has a background in cinematography and video editing, while Steve is a trained visual effects artist and compositor. When a project arises, we custom craft a crew tailored exactly to the needs of the production from our network of talented artists with whom we frequently work. By utilizing our crew on a contract basis rather than as in-studio employees, we are able to remain flexible and accommodating to a project of any type or scale.

Making Shapes produces narrative films, documentaries, commercials, advertising campaigns, music videos, and pretty much everything else. Whatever the project, whatever the scale - we’ve got you covered.
